Experience Classical Music at Marin Symphony
The Marin Symphony hosts world-famous guest soloists, performing time-honored classical favorites, from Beethoven to Gershwin. Between October and May, the symphony offers performances on Sunday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., plus two Christmas holiday events. The Youth Orchestra’s Sit-In Concerts are performed three times a year and are free of charge. These free public events feature a “petting zoo” where the musicians sit down with young audience members and allow them to try an instrument. The annual Family Concert delights audiences of all ages. This special one-hour program will introduce children to the joy of orchestra music. From the first performance in a school gym in 1952 to its present venue at the Marin County Civic Center’s Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium in San Rafael, the Marin Symphony has become a respected cultural presence in the Bay Area. The Auditorium, built in 1957, was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and was his last work.
