While attending Ohio University, he began performing at pubs and university events in Athens with Pinker Than Pale, an experimental rock trio he formed with fellow musicians Bryan Murphy and Lara Wallace. It was during this time he wrote and recorded his first Bowie-esque demo single, “Octagon.”
