Take a Tour of Korbel Champagne Cellars

Considered Sonoma County’s most widely recognized brand, Korbel has been making California Champagnes for over 135 years. Nestled in the Russian River Valley, right on River Road on the outskirts of Guerneville, Korbel’s 50-minute tour will be one of the highlights of your Wine Country visit. This free tour (for parties of 20 or less) goes through the antique cellars and the history museum and includes a tasting of their award-winning wines. Winery tours are offered daily, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., and Wine Shop/Tasting Room hours are from 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. To schedule a private tour, or a group tour, contact the reservationist at 707-824-7709.

Garden Tour: Planted in the 1880s as an enhancement to the KORBEL family summer home, the gardens did not come fully into their own until a century later when their master horticulturist transformed the grounds into a magnificent array of colors, textures and aromas that shift with the seasons and the Sonoma County weather. The Garden Tour is offered daily, 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday (mid-April through mid-October).

All Korbel California champagnes are made according to the traditional méthode champenoise, in which the champagne is fermented inside the same bottle from which it is served. This time-honored process takes almost a year to complete, but the result is worth the wait. The taste of the méthode champenoise style is famous for its delicate nuances and for producing the countless dazzling bubbles in every glass of KORBEL California champagne.

Korbel also practices the disciplines of sustainable farming. “We are committed to sustainable winemaking and conserving the ecosystem around us. Our champagnes are a product of nature and the land on which the grapes are grown. We seek to safeguard that land and our natural resources for future generations and celebrations yet to come.”

The Korbel Delicatessen offers a great selection for packing up a picnic. The deli also offers a beautiful and relaxing patio area to grab some lunch between wine tastings. Open daily, 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
