The Samples are more than a band – they represent a culture of fans and music that go beyond who happens to be playing in the band at any given time. There have been many members of The Samples, but Sean Kelly has been the consistent factor throughout all of the changes.

Nick Otis and Matt Silva bring the smooth rhythms of Brazilian bossa nova together with reimagined rock, jazz, and soul classics from the ’60s and ’70s. With deep musical roots, Nick Otis, son of Johnny Otis and brother of Shuggie Otis, their sound blends authenticity, groove, and effortless charm.

Sultry chanteuse Lavay Smith evokes a sensuous era of Jazz queens and sexy pinups and adds a modern, feminist twist. No wonder Los Angeles Magazine chose her as one of the sexiest people around! Whether singing her own compositions or drawing on a large repertoire of classics, Lavay and her all-star 8-piece band bake up an instant recipe for dancing and good times.
Hall Pass is a super high energy, good time band, playing a mix of covers, old and new, blended with a few originals. The quintet covers a lot of ground during their marathon shows, with rocking guitars, swirling keyboards, soaring harmonica and a tight rhythm section combined with strong harmonies and musicianship. They deliver a powerful mix of musical genres…with a focus on upbeat rock and roll, funk, jam-band, alt-country and indie will get your body moving and your soul smiling. Their high energy eclectic sound offers something for everyone.
