Presented by our Young Actors Studio, Into the Woods JR. is a fresh take on Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Tony Award–winning musical that intertwines the stories of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk), and a very determined Baker and his wife. When a Witch’s curse stands in the way of their wishes, they venture into the woods to set things right.

Now in its 18th year, Film Fest Petaluma is a day-long showcase of animated and live action short films with filmmakers in conversation. Programs will take place at 12, 3, 7, & 9:45. Tchaikovsky’s passionate Romeo and Juliet is a timeless and familiar classic, while Coleridge-Taylor’s evocative Othello offers a compelling counterpoint for interpreting Shakespeare in music. Plus, pianist Claire Huangci makes her Weill Hall debut with Mozart’s expressive Piano Concerto No. 20.
The festival has its origin as a celebration of the start of the Salmon fishing season and the annual Blessing of the Fleet. Each year’s theme is chosen by the Bodega Bay Fisherman’s Marketing Association. At the Festival site itself, you’ll see a wooden boat challenge where participating teams build a vessel and compete in a boat race.
