DESCRIPTION:North Mississippi Allstars was started by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson in 1996 as a loose collective of musicians from their North Mississippi home\, inspired by their father Jim Dickinson as well as neighbors and musical elders of their community; RL Burnside\, Junior Kimbrough\, Otha Turner and Fred McDowell.\n\nLuther’s first national tour was the RL Burnside Ass Pocket of Whiskey tour in 1997\, selling out shows in the US and Canada. “Kenny Brown hired me to tour with RL and Cedric and showed me the ropes. That experience blew my mind. But when she and her husband Keith moved on\, they founded the Heart of Gold Band. To honor her passing (November 2\, 2025) and celebrate her life (and her birthday\, August 22nd)\, the Heart of Gold Band and a number of friends and family will assemble at the Mystic Theatre for two nights of music\, joy\, sweet memories and probably a few tears. \nThey’ll play tunes from throughout her career\, from Muscle Shoals to Egypt and beyond. Donna Jean Thatcher was born in Florence\, Alabama\, and by the time she was in high school\, she was singing harmonies at the two studios that created the legendary “Muscle Shoals Sound\,” including Percy Sledge’s “When a Man Loves a Woman” and Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds.” She moved to California\, met and married Keith Godchaux\, and then introduced herself to Jerry Garcia: “I need your phone number\, because my husband is going to be your new keyboard player.” She was right. She also brought her exquisite voice to the band. \nKeith Godchaux’s untimely death in 1980 brought an unfortunate end to the Heart of Gold Band\, but the partnership of Steve Kimock and Greg Anton it created led to the band Zero and a great deal more memorable music. \nDonna Jean was one of the sweetest and most-loved women ever. She touched countless hearts and now we gather in love and gratitude to celebrate her spirit\, the music and the enduring legacy she leaves behind.

From that moment\, he continued to grow\, creating a series of successful stand-up specials including Animal Furnace\, Live From Chicago\, Hannibal Takes Edinburgh\, Comedy Camisado\, and Miami Nights. \nFate intervened in 2009\, when a last-minute booking on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon led to a meeting with Seth Meyers. This encounter gave him the opportunity to write for the legendary show Saturday Night Live. It was there\, my young turtles\, where Buress had one sketch air – a moment he credits to the creativity of his cousin Percy. He cherishes the memory of watching Rihanna uttering his lines in the “Shy Ronnie” sketch. After a season there\, he moved to 30 Rock\, filling the space left vacant by the departure of Donald Glover. \nIn the realm of film\, Buress has proven his versatility\, showcasing his talents in Neighbors\, Neighbors 2\, Baywatch\, Daddy’s Home\, Spiderman: Homecoming\, Spiderman: Far From Home\, and Tag.
