SUMMARY:Green Music Center presents Sonoma Bach Harvest Time: A Seal Upon Our Hearts
DESCRIPTION:Circa 1600\nLive Oak Baroque Orchestra Consort\nAmanda McFadden\, director\nSat-Sun\, Nov 14-15\, 2026 – Tickets: $17-$40\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, November 14\, 2025 at 3 p.m.\nSunday\, November 15\, 2025 at 3 p.m. \nBachgrounder lecture 35 minutes before each concert \nFollowing our opening recital’s exploration of many of the foundational tales recounted in the Book of Genesis\, Circa 1600 has the pleasure of turning forward in the Old Testament and stepping into the mystical garden of the Song of Songs. Filled with longing\, sensuality\, and memorable imagery\, it’s no wonder that this sacred poetry inspired many composers to write such expressive music. We will explore motets by composers close to our heart including Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina\, Tomás Luis de Victoria\, and Jacobus Clemens non Papa as well as lesser-known gems\, including the wonderful Missa Ego flos campi by Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla. \nCirca 1600 is our mixed chamber choir\, exploring the rich intersection of the Renaissance and Baroque eras. The group’s core repertoire spans the 16th and 17th centuries\, with excursions back into the 15th century and forward to J.S. Bach. The ensemble’s artistic vision is shaped by the works of Josquin Desprez\, Claudio Monteverdi\, Heinrich Schütz and their contemporaries\, bringing early music vividly to life. \nLive Oak Baroque Orchestra (LOBO) is Sonoma Bach’s period-instrument ensemble\, led by acclaimed Baroque violinists Elizabeth Blumenstock and Aaron Westman. LOBO combines sumptuous tone with breathtaking flair to perform repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries. Experience Baroque music at its finest\, passionately performed by some of the country’s most exceptional period instrumentalists.

SUMMARY:The California Theatre presents Stinkfoot Orchestra featuring Napoleon Murphy Brock
DESCRIPTION:The legendary Napoleon Murphy Brock\, and the Stinkfoot Orchestra\, bring the total package of precision\, exuberance and Frank-focus! \nThe Stinkfoot Orchestra\, featuring the legendary Napoleon Murphy Brock\, has been leaving its mark up and down the west coast since the summer of 2022 – delighting existing fans of Zappa’s music and turning on an entirely new generation to the musical complexity\, biting social commentary and humorous musings of one of the 20th century’s most prolific composers. \nSupported by an onslaught of 6 horns\, tuned percussion and 4 vocalists\, Brock brings his unparalleled energy and charisma to the stage with every show. Together\, the ensemble delivers a performance that spans more than three decades of Zappa’s music\, pulling material from early Mothers of Invention through the late 1980s. They present the music with power\, authenticity and musical prowess – all served with a healthy dose of humorous stage antics. \nThere is no greater testament to the respect that SFO have earned than the ever-growing number of Zappa alumni who have shown the band their support and encouragement. Arthur Barrow\, Ray White\, Bruce Fowler\, Ike Willis and Lisa Popeil are just a few of those who have shared the stage with the band since their inception – all of whom have come away with the same positive reaction. In a recent radio interview with Zappa’s prolific trombonist of 3 decades\, Bruce Fowler\, the horn player simplified his thoughts on the band to 3 words “They get it…” \nhttps://stinkfootorchestra.com

SUMMARY:Raven Performing Arts Theater presents Healdsburg Jazz Harlem Nutcracker Suite
DESCRIPTION:The Marcus Shelby Orchestra will perform the magical “Harlem Nutcracker Suite” by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn\, which is a masterpiece musical re-arrangement and orchestration of the well-known “Nutcracker” by classical composer Peter Tchaikovsky. Marcus Shelby and his orchestra performed the “Harlem Nutcracker Suite” for the first time\, last year in Healdsburg and for the past decade at SFJAZZ. The music is wonderful and exciting for audiences of all ages\, who will recognize many of the enduring themes from the original “Nutcracker” by Tchaikovsky\, using the blues and swing as the vehicle for the music. There are nine sections that explore the range and tonal diversity of the big band orchestra. Although specifically written for the holiday season\, the music has the energy\, power\, and joyfulness that could allow the suite to be played anytime of the year.   \nThe second half of this special holiday concert features celebrated Bay Area vocalists Tiffany Austin and Enid Pickett with the Marcus Shelby Orchestra\, performing a program of Christmas songs\, spirituals\, and various traditional songs re-arranged from around the world. This portion of the concert includes poetry\, a slide show\, and other holiday surprises.    \nOur annual Healdsburg Jazz Holiday Concert also includes a toy drive\, so bring a small gift\, or book\, or toy that we will deliver to our local partners. \n“Most people know these popular themes in Tchaikovsky…but then when you hear the saxophone playing it or the drummers using their hands to create this mood…then you’re like\, ‘Wow!’” \n\nMarcus Shelby\n\n\nComposer\, Conductor\, and Artistic Director of Healdsburg Jazz
