SUMMARY:Sweetwater Music Hall presents Shovels & Rope with Nolan Taylor
DESCRIPTION:Shovels & Rope are an American folk rock duo from Charleston\, South Carolina\, consisting of husband-and-wife Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst. They blend traditional folk\, rock\, and country rock\, known for their rich harmonies\, storytelling lyrics\, and live energy \nOne night in the middle of the night there were a series of noises coming from above which lead to a series of thoughts. It sounded like something was working. Building something… A nest for its family? A trap for its prey? This led to more thoughts about unseen things at work. A God? A voice in your head? It all feels kind of made up until someone responds to it.   \nLess means more. That’s kind of always how it’s been with us. This time the rules were simple: we can only use what we work with live and whatever we put down on tape must be accomplishable on a stage in a live setting. That’s always seemed to be when we’re at our best. Or most twitchy. Many times we’ve made records that we loved and then\, after figuring out how we’d perform it live\, we end up falling in love with the live arrangement because being a 2 piece band\, it took some real risk and struggle which led to innovation\, which gave it a whole new life. (Consider the tortured grape.) So with this one we just started there and worked backwards. The result encapsulates\, more than anything we’ve done before\, the sound of our live performance. Resulting in what one might consider by definition\, a definitive album.

SUMMARY:Mystic Theatre presents Mark Farina with Wolf Pack
DESCRIPTION:A name that rings out across the entire global dance music industry. His non-stop touring\, constant content creation\, partnerships with legendary venues and record labels as well as his total commitment to showcasing the best new and old school producers in his sets have made him a living legend to lovers of house and Mushroom Jazz everywhere. \n“I look at my job as a ‘modern day traveling minstrel’. To bring new music to as many places as I can and expose obscure records that otherwise might go hidden.” \nAt the age of 16\, in his hometown of Chicago\, Illinois\, Mark became obsessed with music and record collecting eventually discovering the ‘80s underage club mecca\, Medusa’s. While record shopping at Import’s Etc. in 1988\, Farina met fellow innovator and future best mate\, Derrick Carter\, who steered him towards groundbreaking House Music Producers and labels of the time. Later that year\, Farina landed an impressive residency at Chicago’s legendary live music venue\, Smart Bar\, a relationship he maintains to this day. In 1989\, Mark\, Derrick\, and Chris Nazuka (aka Symbols and Instruments) signed with Kevin Sanderson’s KMS records and released “Mood” which sold over 35\,000 copies and is credited as the first “Ambient House” track. \nFarina then pushed musical boundaries even further when he experimented with a deeper style of music that wasn’t being played in the main rooms of nightclubs. Combining the likes of De La Soul with disco classics and Martin Luther King samples\, he seamlessly blended West Coast jazzy beats\, acid jazz grooves\, the Chicago House sound of his youth and some ‘90s New York Hip-Hop. The result: Mushroom Jazz. The birth of this new sound cemented Farina’s musical versatility. He recorded limited-edition cassette tapes that would sell out in minutes at Chicago’s Gramophone Records\, the store Mark worked at in the early 90’s. Promoters took notice of his rapidly expanding following and soon his schedule was packed with gigs around Chicago and the rest of the US. \nThe last few years have been an incredible new era of creativity\, outreach\, and recognition for one of the most original and consistent voices in the business. Mark continues to connect with new fans without losing those who have been loyal supporters from day one. Fans\, promoters\, and industry insiders all know that no matter what changes come along Mark Farina always delivers.

SUMMARY:Sweetwater Music Hall presents Zepparella
DESCRIPTION:How to honor the legacy of a band deemed sacred? To tread on holy ground is perilous\, and must be done with the intent and spirit of a disciple—Pay attention to the intricacies of the magic\, explore the far ends of the innovation\, strive for ever-growing ability\, and let the purity of the love for the music drive it all. \nDrummer Clementine is the founding member of ZEPPARELLA. From the beginning of her musical career\, her goal has been to be onstage every night. The pursuit of that goal has led Clementine to constantly tour the US and Europe in projects as diverse as Bottom\, AC/DShe\, The House Of More\, The Solid\, Francis Bakin\, Stars Turn Me On and Beaux Cheveux. She tackles the best rock drumming ever written with her own emotionally powerful style\, bringing the Motown influence of the Bonham groove to the forefront. The profound musical connection established with Gretchen Menn (guitar)\, Holly West (bass)\, and Anna Kristina (vocals) creates the bond required to do this great music justice. \nIt was under the tutelage of classical guitarist Phillip DeFremery\, a student of Andrés Segovia\, that guitarist Gretchen Menn began her path on the instrument. Playing with tireless passion and constantly seeking out new challenges\, her projects are often unconventional\, genre-bending expressions combining elements of classical\, rock\, progressive\, jazz\, and metal. On influences\, Gretchen has never tired of her initial inspirations—Eric Johnson\, Steve Morse\, Frank Zappa\, and Jeff Beck. But she has loved Jimmy Page’s guitar playing longer than she has played the guitar. It was through the music of Led Zeppelin that she found a gateway into music that resonated deeply with her\, creating a love for guitar-oriented music\, and\, ultimately\, the guitar.

SUMMARY:Uptown Theatre presents Creed Bratton – An Evening of Music & Comedy From “The Office”
DESCRIPTION:Creed Bratton’s story has always been a music story\, but a relentless drive for success and a stroke of luck led him down an entirely different path in Scranton\, PA. Now\, as he prepares to release his 10th studio album\, Tao Pop\, on September 27\, Bratton cements his place in music history as he blissfully explores his many interpretations of pop music. \nTao Pop marks Creed’s fifth time working with multiple Grammy Award-winning producers Dave Way (Michael Jackson\, Fiona Apple) and Dillon O’Brian (Keith Urban\, Brian Wilson\, Ringo Starr). To collaborate on four individual tracks\, he brought in longtime friends Billy Harvey\, Geoff Pearlman\, Vance DeGeneres\, and Dillon O’Brian. \nThere’s a natural sense of humor across the record\, as seen on tracks like first single “Turn The Corner Of The Universe\,” an infectious anthem that imagines a future where climate change is in our rearview mirror. There’s also Tao Pop’s cover art\, a futuristic depiction of Creed adorned with a USB outlet in his skull\, inexplicably receiving an AI-baby from its AI-parents. Obviously\, this is because Creed’s a funny guy––what started as a non-speaking role quickly turned him into a global star for his work as Creed Bratton on the American version of The Office\, which is now one of the most streamed television shows of all time.
