SUMMARY:Sweetwater Music Hall presents The Young Dubliners
DESCRIPTION:Young Dubliners have begun work on their tenth studio album (with longtime producer Irish-born Tim Boland) while still maintaining their busy tour schedule.  They have returned to the road post-pandemic stronger than ever and determined to bring their fusion of Celtic and rock music to as many people as they can.\n\nThe band is Keith Roberts (vocals / guitar)\, Chas Waltz (Violin\, keys\, vocals)\, Justin Pecot (guitar\, vocals)\, Dave Ingraham (drums) and Ethan Jones (bass guitar). With a batch of incredible new songs and an undeniable energy\, the band is excited to bring their show to festivals\, theaters and clubs around the world.\n\n“We want to be the band who reminds the world how important a good gig can be to our sanity after what we’ve all been through\,” says Roberts.\n\nFor only the second time the band is looking to its fans to finance the album instead of a traditional record company.\n\n“The business has changed so much over our lifetime that it no longer makes sense for us to take money from a label and then owe it all back\,” adds Roberts. “Making all our supporters co-producers is a far more rewarding way to make a record and allows us to maintain control all the way”.

SUMMARY:Uptown Theatre presents Altan
DESCRIPTION:Altan is celebrating forty years on the road\, bringing their native music to world-renowned stages such as Carnagie Hall\, the Sydney Opera House\, Dublin’s National Concert Hall as well as to the famous Glastonbury Festival\, Tradfest Temple Bar in Dublin\, and Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany. \nBuilding on this history\, their latest album ‘Donegal’ was released in 2024 (Compass Records) and has received widespread positive reviews. Altan has long been at the forefront of traditional Irish music\, blending the raw energy of their native Donegal-fiddle style with a rare\, melodic sensibility. Being the first-ever Irish traditional band signed to a major record label\, Virgin Records in 1995\, The Boston Globe named them “The hottest group in the Celtic realm”. \nThe band’s original members\, lead singer and fiddler\, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh\, Ciaran Curran on bouzouki and Mark Kelly on guitar are accompanied by accordion player Martin Tourish\, and their newest member\, fiddler and singer\, Clare Friel. \nAltan has shared their music and musicianship with The Chieftains\, Dolly Parton\, Ricky Skaggs\, John Prine\, and more. Embarking on their fifth decade\, their commitment to Donegal’s musical heritage ensures that it will endure for generations to come.

SUMMARY:Sweetwater Music Hall presents Eamonn Flynn and Dublinesque Album Release Show with special guest Suil na Seabhac
DESCRIPTION:Eamonn Flynn forges his own brand of Irish soul. The Dublin-born singer-songwriter/pianist got his start with The Commitments\, a hit film about an Irish soul band\, and has since worked with American blues and R&B stars Elvin Bishop\, Maria Muldaur\, Evelyn Champagne King\, Michael Franti & Spearhead\, Zigaboo Modeliste (The Meters)\, The Ray Charles Project\, and many more. He also kept a hand in Irish music playing with Shay and Michael Black and Finbar Furey and has played piano and organ for many years at San Francisco’s Glide Memorial Church.\n\nFlynn’s new quartet DUBLINESQUE brings his deep soul and gospel roots together with the Irish music traditions he was raised on.\n\n“Dublinesque is my attempt to recreate the kind of parties we had in my parents’ house\, growing up in Dublin\,” explains Flynn. “There’d be neighbours and friends\, and it would always end up as a sing-song/jam session. Everyone would participate – if you couldn’t hold a tune\, you’d perform a ‘recitation’ or tell a joke!\n\n“There was never any delineation between genres of music – whether it was Irish tunes and ballads\, soul music\, or a Beatles song\,” he emphasizes.\n\nThe band brings together three talented Bay Area Irish traditional musicians: fellow Irishman Félim Egan (The Black Brothers) on accordion\, local favorite Darcy Noonan on fiddle\, and from the Basque Country\, Spain\, Hector Bragado on banjo. “This is my chance to play with some of my favorite musicians and recreate those parties!” says Flynn.
