DESCRIPTION:A living lesson in fortitude\, the vocal trio of Cecil “Skeley” Spence\, Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig\, and Lascelle “Wiss” Bulgin overcame adversity\, illness\, and poverty to become one of the finest roots groups in Jamaica’s history. All three had been afflicted by polio and first became acquainted\, albeit briefly\, at Kingston’s Mona Rehabilitation Clinic.\nThe three teens had individually all previously converted to rastafarianism\, now their shared faith and childhood experiences helped forge a strong friendship. They spent the next six years singing around Kingston for their suppers and by 1975\, Israel Vibration was a vocal force to be reckoned with. The group’s exquisite dread sound and militant cultural themes made an instant impression and the trio now found themselves on-stage opening for the likes of Bob Marley and Dennis Brown.

Rolling Stone named Lizzie one of their “Future 25” artists of the year\, and country ballad “The Heartbreak Store” was nominated for International Song of the Year at the Americana UK awards. The ‘Halfsies’ tour made stops all across the United States and Europe\, including shows with Iron & Wine and Dispatch. In January 2025 they released the electrifying live album ‘Commie Country.’

From Morrissey’s lyrical poetry to the inspired musicianship of Johnny Marr\, Andy Rourke\, and Mike Joyce\, their influence can be heard throughout popular music for decades since and yet their sound is still unique and timeless.  \n\nBizarre coincidence? Shoplifters United had their very first rehearsal on the same day in September of 2022 as the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen was truly\, and quite literally\, dead and a humble Smiths tribute band was born. Shoplifters United are Pascal\, Matt\, Tommy\, and James\, a group of friends who share a love for the music of The Smiths. Great care has been taken to emulate the sound on those classic Smiths records down to every note and groove. Our hope is that when you go to a Shoplifters United show\, you can close your eyes and imagine the year is 1984 and you are at The Haçienda nightclub in Manchester.

He has successfully blended retro Indian music into his presentation\, making for a unique\, electrifying\, multi-cultural mash-up that sounds like no one else\, yet never loses touch with the inspiration it draws from the blues. A veteran of the San Jose music scene for two decades\, Kumar was hailed as “…King of ‘Bollywood blues’ music” by SJ Mercury News (2022) and received the Metro Silicon Valley Gold Award for Best Band (2024).
