SUMMARY:Uptown Theatre presents BOTTLEROCK AFTERDARK – Larkin Poe
DESCRIPTION:Larkin Poe’s latest album “Bloom” (GRAMMY nominated for Best Americana Album) sees the dynamic sister duo venturing further along on their evolving musical journey with a collection of songs that resonate with introspection\, authenticity\, and a profound connection to their roots in American music. \nProduced and largely co-written by Megan\, Rebecca\, and Tyler Bryant\, the album marks a significant evolution for Larkin Poe\, reflecting a synergy that extends beyond mere musical partnership. \nAlready hailed for the sincerity of their songcraft\, the Lovell sisters now place an even greater spotlight on their gift for storytelling\, delving deep into personal narratives with universal themes of self-acceptance and individuality against a backdrop of contemporary blues and rock influences. \nWith their distinctive blend of masterful instrumentation and soulful harmonies\, each track unfolds like a chapter\, with lyrics that wind deeper and deeper towards the heart of Larkin Poe.

SUMMARY:Sweetwater Music Hall presents Purple Haze – Tribute to Jimi Hendrix
DESCRIPTION:Ralph Woodson’s Purple Haze is not your typical tribute band.  \n\nHe has studied his idol to the point of being able to play the guitar behind his back\, and with his teeth. Ralph’s a Hendrix authority\, and it’s obvious when you see him perform.\n\nThe youngest of nine\, he grew up in Richmond\, CA\, and was initially struck by the sound of the “Band of Gypsys” record. Ralph has toured with Hedzoli Sounds (of which Hugh Masekela was a member)\, as well as The Mighty Diamonds\, Lady Bianca\, Faye Carol\, and a Bill Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead)/Sy Klopps (Herbie Herbert) collaboration called the Trichromes. With the Trichromes and later with the Sy Klopps Blues Band\, Ralph played on big stages opening for Tower of Power\, James Brown\, ZZ Top\, and Lynyrd Skynyrd\, among others. He’s appeared at the College of Marin and on KFOG-FM with author/Hendrix expert Steve Roby\, demonstrating the sound and techniques of Jimi Hendrix. \n\nRalph formed the Ralph Woodson Experience in 2001 (which became Purple Haze in 2010)\, focusing on the Hendrix material that he grew up with and always loved. Purple Haze has gained a steady following in the Bay Area and knock people out wherever they go. Ralph’s showmanship and command of the Hendrix material is second to none.

SUMMARY:Green Music Center presents Gin Blossoms and Blues Traveler with Spin Doctors
DESCRIPTION:Gin Blossoms is an American alternative rock band formed in 1987 in Tempe\, Arizona. The band rose to prominence following the 1992 release of their first major label debut album\, New Miserable Experience\, and the first single released from that album\, “Hey Jealousy” became a Top 25 hit and went gold. New Miserable Experience eventually went quadruple platinum\, and three other charting singles were released from the album including “Allison Road” and “Until I Fall Away”. The band’s follow-up album\, Congratulations I’m Sorry (1996)\, went platinum including the Grammy nominated “As Long as It Matters” and the top 10 single “Follow You Down”. \nNearly 4 decades ago ago\, the four original members of Blues Traveler gathered in their drummer’s parents’ basement in Princeton\, NJ to jam. They would go on to release a total of 14 studio albums\, four of which have gone gold\, three platinum\, and one six-times platinum- selling more than 10 million combined units worldwide. Over an illustrious career\, Blues Traveler has played over 2\,000 live shows in front of more than 30 million people\, and\, in “Run-Around\,” had the longest-charting radio single in Billboard history\, which earned them a Grammy® for “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.” \nSpin Doctors’ first album in 12 years is at once a bold leap for a legendary band and the sound of a group truly revitalized. Marking their debut on new label home and iconic major Capitol Records\, Face Full of Cake finds the alt-rock veterans in top form with an abundance of hooks in their arsenal and the warm\, funky sound that longtime fans have come to expect from them. The record truly marks a new era for Spin Doctors\, and with a blockbuster summer tour on the horizon and new bassist Jack Daley in tow\, it’s impossible not to catch the thrilling feeling that this 35 years strong-and-running crew is\, despite their wealth of experience\, just getting started.
