An original play about an urban Chicano struggling to understand himself and his place in the family history – a history of warriors, fighters, battlers against oppression and discrimination. He is gifted and educated but conflicted and repressed. Afraid to show his emotions, it takes his mother’s nearly fatal heart attack and the visitation of the spirits of his long dead relatives, as well as the spirit of his historical idol, Pancho Villa, to help him realize that he still can dance, love, and learn to forgive.
Who Will Dance with Pancho Villa was developed as part of the Raven Players’ ScripTease program. These readings are a critical step in the process of writing a play and your feedback is extremely helpful to the playwrights, director and actors. We encourage you to freely share your impressions in our post-reading discussion.
